Hi

I am deliberating what to do, pain consultant saw me at my uncoping worst having arrived at the clinic anxous and bawling! Took over half an hour to park and then had to almost dump my precious car and walk ages to he main outpatients, the pain was awful!

I told him that my appointment had been changed for the 3rd time and had got to climbing up the walls by christmas and had resorted to oromorph to get some relief. He has suggested gabapetin but knowing the side effects has made me nervous of yet more side effects from drugs.

Has anyone else been on this or have you had horrid side effects from this or related drugs?

Hi Christine

Yes I take this, it has been BRILLIANT for me especially my nerve pain.

I have a bit of a taylored dose pattern- take 1 tablet of 100mg in the morning then 2 at night before bed.

When I take the 2 tablets together it can make my co-ordination iffy so I make sure I have a wee and do my teeth first (possibly too much info there!RollEyes ) but honestly that is it side effect wise.

It is the bees knees. That nasty nerve pain controlled at last! So much more effective than the general ones of zomorph etc

Hi Christine, I'm sorry that you had such a rough time getting to your appointment It's often difficult just getting there and finding a parking spot it's a pity that you didn't have someone to drive you so that they could drop you off whilst they find a parking spot but maybe it's good that you were seen at your worst. I haven't taken that drug but I think I had read about it in conection with Fibromyalgia, Is it one of the antidepressant drugs. I'm going to Google it to see what it says. I'm sure that someone in the Forum can help. Glenys. x

Thank you Jenni, thats really positive and as you say, l do have dreadful pain from the neuropathy.

Its not an antidepressant, take loads of them too!! Its for epilepsy and nerve pain, l have peripheral neuropathy but consultant said it will help with RA pain too.

I also have fibromyalgia and Amitriptyline is usually given for this and neuropathy but due to the sjogrens and dry mouth l cant have a high dose.

Went to the dentist the other day & had to fill medical forms, it reads like a medical dictionary!RollEyes

Hi lovely Christine

Sorry you've had such a traumatic experience. Hospital parking is an asolute nightmare.

Although I have never taken Gabapentin, a close friend who has neuropathy problems has, and she says it has been her wonder drug and helped enormously with the probs.

Hope it works really well for you.

Lots of love
Jeanxxxx
